Holy Stone Hs720 Review

Holy Stone hs720 review: Budget-friendly Camera Drone

If you are looking for a drone on a budget then maybe you have found your pick. The Holy Stone HS720 is a famous product well known for its capabilities in such a tight price range. The box feels in no way cheap and the performance is satisfactory. Let’s dive in and explore whether the Holy Stone HS720 review is a bang for your buck.

Holy Stone HS720

At first look, most of our readers will be able to tell that the Holy Stone HS720 is going to be a compact device. This is because it belongs to the family of foldable drones, devices that can be folded for maximum portability. Foldable devices have been gaining significant attention over the years, especially after the release of DJI Mavic.

Not only is the drone foldable, but the Holy Stone HS720 also adds more to its portability by being extremely lightweight, weighing less than 500g, and measuring 36*33*7 cm and 17*10.5*6 cm when it’s folded. Although the folding option can make the Holy Stone HS720 easily fit a large trouser pocket, you will want to carry it in the case it comes with as it not only looks cool but is also better to travel with.

Brushless Motors: The Holy Stone HS720 comes with 4 brushless motors instead of the regular brushed ones. These motors are powerful and make the drone more efficient, allowing for more thrust and speed. People looking to buy this as their first drone should know it’s pretty fast so be careful when you are getting ready for your first flight.

Among the many latest drone, one is the SYMA X5C drone, the explorer edition has nice cameras and lights to keep you busy with the video shoots.

LED Lights for nighttime: For flying at night, the drone comes with two bright lights located on the bottom of the drone. These lights are remotely controlled and will be enough for you to fly your drone through the night sky. There are also additional LED lights under each arm meant to tell you when the drone compass is calibrated.

Do you want a tiny drone to take it with you for the trip? Read about the best mini drones that could be a great deal for the money and are very travel-friendly.

Flight Time: One big improvement the Holy Stone HS720 brings over older models is the flight time. You can get about 20 minutes of flight time from a single charge, which is great compared to other drones in this price range. This long flight time is achieved through low consumption brushless motors and a capable Lithium Polymer battery.

The Holy Stone HS720 is also quieter than its predecessors which means you can manage stealthy drone operations without your neighbors complaining.

The only problem with the battery of the Holy Stone HS720 is that it requires 5-7 hours to charge completely. This is a huge amount of time for anyone wanting to play with their drone so a spare battery pack is heavily recommended.

Camera lens: When it comes to camera quality, the Holy Stone HS720 does a pretty good job considering its price range. It comes with an amazing 2K camera, allowing for some great images and even HD video footage. The images are not only of higher quality but are also clearer and more detailed, thanks to the ⅓ CMOS sensor and a 110° wide-angle FOV.

Do note that the Holy Stone HS720 does not come with any sort of stabilization software or gimbal. However, there is a shock absorption holder that will deliver stable images and videos. The quality can obviously not be compared to something more high-end such as a DJI, but it’s fair enough considering the price tag. The camera can also be controlled remotely, giving a rotation of 90° up or down.

5G transmission technology: In optimal conditions, the drone can stream live video footage to a distance of 800m. Normally, you’ll get around 600-700 meters in the FPV range. There are some reports of a little jello effect when taking images or recording videos using the FPV feature, however, most of the time the quality turns out just fine.

Range: The Holy Stone HS720 significantly improves over its predecessors, when it comes to range. You’ll get up to a remote-controlled range of 1600 meters, allowing you to fly your drone far and wide to take amazing landscapes and footage. The Holy Stone HS720 will fly up to heights of 3000 meters, thanks to its 2.4 GHz transmitter.

If you are live streaming using WiFi, then the range drops to 800 meters. The drone also has features to make sure you don’t lose sight of it if things go bad. This is great for beginners who are just learning the art of flying a drone. The Holy Stone HS720 comes with a GPS Assisted Intelligent Flight function, that makes sure your drone doesn’t get lost.

Whenever the battery of your drone is about to die, it’ll return back to you. In places where it’s easy to lose your drone due to various obstacles, you can just press a single button and your drone will come flying back.

Another amazing feature about the Holy Stone HS720 is that you can set a predetermined flight path for the drone to follow. You can also set it to follow you wherever you go which just shows how amazing the technology in this drone is, considering how affordable it is.

Conclusion: Should you go for it?

When you look at all the aspects, the Holy Stone HS720 is a solid choice. It’s affordable and works like a premium device with some bearable caveats. Reviews from people all over the world are great, stating how satisfied they are and praising the drone’s performance and packing.
